BCS Brass Degasser is a professional foundry grade, copper, brass & bronze degasser . It is manufactured by Asbury Fluxmaster of Utah Inc. and sold to the foundry industry as #761 Degasser. It is used to remove hydrogen from the molten metal.
Molten metal can have disolved gas in it that can cause problems. This gas is usually hydrogen. Dissolved gas can cause surface imperfections when the gas comes out of solution and forms bubbles on the surface of the part. Gas also can cause internal voids that are revealed when the part is cut open. It can also lead to serious metallurgical defects caused by hydrogen embrittlement.
This degasser combines with hydrogen in solution in the molten metal, and drives it out of the melt.
Use 3 to 5 oz. Degasser per 100 lb. of metal depending on cleanliness of the melt.
When charge is completely melted, skim the dross and plunge degasser into the metal. The object is to have the degas bubbles dispersed as much as possible thru the molten metal. This should be done as the last step before pouring. If the remaining metal is allowed to sit before another pour it may have to be degassed again.

Adjust the quantity as required depending on the cleanliness, size, quantity and holding time of your metal.
