The BCS #1087 & #1088 Element Adhesive is a special refractory adhesive that securely bonds metal to refractory and bricks. It will also bond metal to metal, refractory to refractory and bricks to bricks.
Tired of having your heating elements falling out of their groove!? Then bond them in with this special refractory adhesive. This adhesive is suitable for furnaces operating up to 2700 F continuous, and 3000 F for short periods. It will work with both Nichrome and Kanthal type coil elements.
Dampen the surfaces to be bonded with water prior to application. The adhesive can be pressed into place by hand or with suitable tools. Experience has shown that an element should be bonded in its groove about every 6" to 8" along the length. Press a suitable amount right thru the element and into the refractory. Leave the top turns of the element visible just below the surface of the adhesive. About 1/2" patch length is all that's required.
Allow the adhesive to dry overnight. Slowly fire the unit to full temperature.
