The BCS #7200 "HOT BOX" ©™ Temperature Controller is designed to precisely regulate the temperature inside an electric Heat Treat furnace or an electric Melting Furnace.
A state of the art PID loop artifical intellengence computer accurately holds any temperature from ambient up to 2500 F (with optional high temperature thermocouple). The unit will control either 120 Vac or 240 Vac power up to 30 amps maximum. The temperature in your furnace is sampled 4 times a second and is displayed on the LED readout. The setpoint temperature is displayed on a second LED readout as well. If the thermocouple should fail, the unit turns off power to the furnace for safety. Full 2 year Warrenty on parts and labor.
The computer has a set up mode where it learns about YOUR furnace. This is important because there are a wide variety of furnace construction which can adversely affect precise temperature control. In the learn mode the unit will cycle power on and off to find out how best to regulate the power in your furnace. Once it has learned about it the unit can bring your furnace up to temperature without overshooting or undershooting the set point. This prevents wide fluctations about the set point, called "hunting".
The Model #7200 has the following features:
The BCS #7200P "PROGRAMMABLE HOT BOX" ©™ This controller has all the features of the #7200, plus the versitility of 30 Programable steps. The programmable feature is ideal for controlling heat treat furnaces and burn out ovens.
Each step can be programmed to have a Start Temperature, an End Temperature, and a Time duration for the step. This allows for the furnace to ramp up to a set temperature over a period of time, then hold the temperature for a period of time, and then decrease the temperature for a period of time, etc. Up to 30 steps like this can be programmed.
The unit looks exactly like the #7200 but contains a different processor. Full 2 year Warrenty on parts and labor.

Connect the input terminals to the power source you intend to use. Strip the wires back 1/4" and insert into the WEGO terminal block. Tighten the screws to retain the wire. Connect the output terminals that connect to the furnace in the same.
Drill a small hole thru the body of the furnace and insert the thermocouple probe. The probe should extend a minimum of 2" into the furnace. Place the probe in a position that won't interfer with normal operation. Connect the probe plug into the back of the unit.
Turn on the unit power, and set the controller for auto-tune. Throw the furnace power switch and let the computer complete a tuning cycle, approximately 10 minutes. Now you can input the set point, and the unit will bring the furnace up to that temperature and hold it there. You can change the set point at any time from the front panel.
The #7301 thermocouple probe is an inconel covered type K thermocouple, ungrounded. The shaft diameter
is 1/4" and is 12" long with a standard OST Male connector (STD size, not miniature). The probe is rated for 2440°F operation.
Same specs as the #7301, but is 18" long.
The #7303 Thermocouple Extension Cable is 10 feet long. It comes with Male-Female Standard OST Connectors.
