Silicon Bronze C873: Everdur

Silicon Bronze C873 is the alloy of choice for casting art, sculptures, belt buckles, etc. It is a traditional bronze that takes a beautiful patina.

This alloy can be re-melted and re-poured without a loss of alloy properties. Other alloys containing lead or zinc will loose the alloying agents with each melting and their characteristics will change significantly.

The typical Pouring Temperture Light Parts is 2000-2150F, and for Heavy Parts is 1850-1950F.

This alloy has good welding and brazing properties.

The machinability rating is 40 (not so good).

The pattern shrinkage ratio is 1/4 inch per foot.

Ingot sizes vary considerably. Current ingot dimensions are approximately: 10-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 3"
